Activities to promote sustainability and environmental protection
Palacký University Olomouc will enter the new semester with a sustainable and responsible approach to the environment, resources, and the people around us. By joining European Sustainable Development Week, the University will offer students, employees, and the general public a wide range of activities. Come and try shared mobility, discover how you can improve your lifestyle, and get actively involved in the university community. This year’s European Sustainable Development Week at Palacký University will begin with Car-Free Day, which is also part of another campaign – European Mobility Week (16–22 September). From 22 September to 5 October, a range of additional activities will take place, organised by Sustainable University in cooperation with UP faculties, their sustainability ambassadors, and other partners.
22 September | International Car-Free Day at UP and in Olomouc
7:30 a.m.–1:00 p.m. | Zbrojnice, Faculty of Science – Envelopa, Faculty of Physical Culture – Neředín
Coffee and refreshments, free basic bicycle servicing, a cargo bike demonstration, distribution of waste-sorting kits, and physical activities. From 2:00 p.m., the programme will continue at Náměstí Republiky. A special free tram service will also operate throughout the day.
23 September | UP Swap
11:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. | in front of the main UP canteen, 17. listopadu
A traditional university swap of clothes, books, and small household items.
24 September | Employee Volunteering Day
Volunteer activities involving employees of Palacký University, the City of Olomouc, and the Olomouc Region, focused on supporting organisations and caring for public spaces, greenery, and animals.
24 September | Film Screening: Carbon: The Unauthorized Biography
7:00 p.m. | Film Hall, Konvikt, Univerzitní 3
A documentary exploring carbon, climate change, and our future.
29 September | School and Sustainability Conference
9:00 a.m.–2:30 p.m. | Fort Science
A conference organised in cooperation with Mary’s Meals for pupils in the upper grades of primary schools and lower grades of multi-year grammar schools.
5 October | Children’s clothes swap as part of Fair UP Week
